About the Instructor
Steadfast Performance Solutions was created to address a critical gap in emergency service training, preparing professionals not only for external threats but for the internal impact of repeated stress exposure. Built on real-world experience and grounded in performance science, the program is designed to strengthen how individuals operate, respond, and lead under pressure.
Mechelle Edwards brings 19 years of service in emergency response leadership, operating and supervising in high-pressure, high-liability environments where clarity and composure are not optional. She currently serves as an Assistant Watch Commander,

Peer Support Supervisor, and Field Training Program Coordinator, and has experience as a Training Coordinator with her organization, overseeing the development and readiness of emergency personnel.
An IDI instructor and graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, Mechelle is committed to strengthening leadership stability across Disciplines within emergency response. She believes that resilience and physiological control are essential components of professional excellence in every branch of emergency services.
As a Doctoral candidate specializing in acute stress and human performance, her work focuses on how stress impacts decision-making, communication, and operational outcomes in critical incidents. Her MS in Homeland Security and Emergency Management gives her the knowledge of how important decision making is when it counts most. She believes research should serve the profession, and that the science of stress must translate into practical tools for those who wear the responsibility of emergency response.
